Frequently Asked Questions

1) About Us

Q: What does BINWEI STUDY do?
A: We’re a bilingual (English–Mandarin) education consultancy. We help families with school placements (IGCSE, A-Levels, IB), short-term immersion/trial programmes, and summer day camps across the UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and more.

Q: Who do you support?
A: Students aged 2–18 (primary to sixth form). We also advise parents/guardians on options and next steps.

2) Services & Destinations

Q: Which programmes do you cover?
A: IGCSE, A-Levels, IB, and EAL support pathways. We also arrange English-immersion day camps that integrate with local students.

Q: Do you arrange short trial/immersion courses?
A: Yes. Options range from 1–8 weeks, subject to school availability and the student’s English level.

Q: Do you offer residential summer camps?
A: We mainly focus on day camps with strong EAL components and local integration; residential options can be discussed case-by-case.

3) Process & Timeline

Q: How does the placement process work?
A: (1) Consultation & profiling → (2) Shortlist & strategy → (3) Application & documents → (4) Offers & acceptance → (5) Visa (via licensed partners) → (6) Arrival & onboarding.

Q: How long does it take?
A: Short trials/camps: 2–6 weeks lead time.
School placements: typically 4–12 weeks depending on school calendars, testing, and waitlists.

Q: When should we start?
A: For August/September entry, start 3–6 months ahead. For January entry, start 2–4 months ahead.

4) Admissions & Requirements

Q: What documents are usually needed?
A: Passport, recent transcripts, teacher reference(s), personal statement (if required), English level evidence (if any), and immunisation record (some schools).

Q: Is there testing/interview?
A: Many schools require entrance assessments (CAT4/MAP/English/Maths) and/or an interview—online or in person.

Q: What if English is beginner level (A1–A2)?
A: We place students on EAL-supported pathways or immersion programmes that scaffold language alongside core subjects.

5) Fees & Payments

Q: Do you charge consultancy fees?
A: We offer transparent packages. Some placements are covered by standard school referral fees; where a service fee applies, we’ll quote clearly before you decide.

Q: Do referral fees increase our costs?
A: No—standard school referral fees do not increase your tuition. We can disclose any referral arrangements on request.

Q: How do we pay?
A: School/camp fees are paid directly to the institution. Our service fees (if any) are invoiced by BINWEI STUDY and payable via bank transfer.

Q: What is your refund policy?
A: School/camp refunds follow the institution’s policy. Our service fees are outlined in our service agreement (scope-based and generally non-refundable once delivered).

6) Visas, Guardianship & Welfare

Q: Do you handle visas?
A: We coordinate documents and timelines and refer you to licensed immigration partners for visa advice and submissions. (We are not a law firm and do not provide immigration advice.)

Q: Do you arrange guardianship?
A: For destinations that require a guardian (e.g., UK for under-18s), we recommend accredited providers and guide the signup process.

Q: Accommodation options?
A: Boarding, homestay (where available), or family-arranged housing. We’ll align options with school policy and safeguarding requirements.

Q: Airport pickups and arrival?
A: We can coordinate airport transfers with trusted providers and share contact details, pickup windows, and contingency procedures.

7) Camps & Immersion

Q: Will my child study with local students?
A: Our day-camp and immersion partners are selected for strong integration with local cohorts whenever possible.

Q: What if my child is shy or a beginner in English?
A: We recommend smaller-group EAL sessions and buddy systems to build confidence.

Q: Can you customise weeks by theme (e.g., STEM, arts, sports)?
A: Yes—subject to availability. We prioritise balanced timetables (language + activity).

8) After Placement Support

Q: Do you support us after enrolment?
A: Yes—orientation guidance, key dates, uniform/book lists, and communication tips with the school. For ongoing tutoring/EAL, we can recommend providers.

Q: What if we’re not accepted by the first choice?
A: We prepare a diversified shortlist and manage rolling applications to secure a suitable placement.

9) Data & Compliance

Q: How do you protect our data?
A: We use secure document handling and share information only with relevant schools/partners for your application. We follow applicable data-protection standards and keep records only as long as necessary.

Q: Can you provide official letters or confirmations?
A: We provide agency confirmations and application summaries; official admission/fee letters are always issued by the schools/camps.

10) Getting Started

Q: How do we begin?
A: Book a consultation, share your child’s profile and goals, and we’ll propose a tailored pathway and timeline.

Q: What information should we prepare?
A: Student’s DOB/grade, academic reports, English ability, preferred destinations/dates, and any special interests or support needs.
